As we enter this last week of Advent, we focus on love, especially the love God gave us in physical form that first Christmas – the Baby Jesus. Indeed, God the Father loves us so much, He sent His only Son to resuscitate us spiritually and restore the everlasting life we were always meant to have in God. (See John 3:16.)

It’s no surprise, then, that the Bible contains hundreds of verses about love. For instance, if you’ve ever attended a wedding, you’re probably heard a whole “Love Chapter” read in 1 Corinthians 13, which describes the meaning of true love – not a feeling but a choice to act in a manner pleasing to our Heavenly Father, Who, according to 1 John 4:8 IS Love.

As we near the celebration of Christmas Day, God’s Word can lead us into the love we’re meant to have year-round in the Name of the Father and Jesus Christ the Son.

Love begins with loving God.

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength,” Deuteronomy 6:5.

“Know therefore that the Lord thy God, He is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love Him and keep His commandments to a thousand generations,” Deuteronomy 7:9, King James Version of the Bible, (KJV.)

“Love the Lord your God. Obey His voice. Hold on to Him, for He is your life,” Deuteronomy 30:20.

“Lord, I trust in Your lasting love. My heart rejoices in Your salvation,” Psalm 13:5.

“Praise ye the Lord. O give thanks unto the Lord; for He is good: for His mercy endureth for ever,” Psalm 106:1, KJV.

Love reaches out to everyone.

“Show love to foreigners for once you were foreigners in the land,” Deuteronomy 10:19.

“You have heard ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy,’ but I (Jesus) tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,” Matthew 5:43.

Jesus said, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind. And love your neighbor as yourself,” Luke 10:27.

Jesus said, “Here is My command: Love one another as I have loved you,” John 15:12.

“Nothing in all creation shall be able to separate us from God’s love for us in Christ Jesus our Lord,” Romans 8:39.

Now may the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen,” 2 Corinthians 13:14.

Have a blessed Christmas! And may your home be filled with love.
