Giving thanks to God is a choice:
“I will praise the Name of God with a song. I will honor Him with thanksgiving,” Psalm 69:30.
Thanksgiving draws us close to God:
“Let us come into God’s presence with thanksgiving. Let us make a joyful noise to Him with songs of praise,” Psalm 95:2.
“Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise: be thankful unto Him, and bless His name,” Psalm 100:4, King James Version (KJV.)
Thanksgiving can be a sacrifice:
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, give your requests to God,” Philippians 4:6.
“And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare His works with rejoicing,” Psalm 107:22, KJV.
Jesus thanked God:
“Jesus said, ‘I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for You have hidden these things from the wise and learned but have revealed them to the childlike’,” Matthew11:25.
“Jesus took bread and gave a prayer of thanksgiving. He broke the bread, gave it to His followers, and said, ‘This is My Body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of Me’,” Luke 22:19.
“Taking the chalice, Jesus passed it to His disciples, giving thanks to God. As they drank from the cup, He said, ‘This is My blood of the new covenant, poured out for many’,” Mark 14:23-24.
Christians have many causes for thanksgiving:
Thank God for fellowship with fellow believers. “We always thank God for you, our Christian friends whom the Lord loves,” 2 Thessalonians 2:13.
Thank God for His responses to our prayers. “Continue in prayer, watch for God’s answers, and give thanks to God,” Colossians 4:2.
Thank God for His goodness. “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. His steadfast love endures forever,” Psalm 118:1.
Thanks God for His grace. “By grace you have been saved through faith. This is not your doing. It is the gift of God,” Ephesians 2:8.
Thank God for salvation. ” God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but that, through Him, the world might be saved,” John 3:17.
Thank God for being with you. “The Lord your God is in your midst. The Mighty One saves. He rejoices over you with gladness, He quietens you with His love. He rejoices over you with singing,” Zephaniah 3:17.
Thank God for His love. “For God is love,” 1 John 4:8.
