God is good.
God is love.
And yet, God allows us to go through hardships. Why?
Often, hard times happen to refine us, strengthen our faith, and bring us closer to God.
Sometimes we suffer from misunderstandings, rejections, and political or religious differences, while, at other times, we feel the consequences of our own choices or actions.
Sometimes suffering is meant to soften us to be more humble, forgiving, compassionate, or better equipped to comfort others.
Even if we have little or no control over adversity, we can count on God to know what’s best. Therefore, it’s vital to know God’s holy character and to believe in His love for His children.
The Bible repeatedly attests to this truth:
Deuteronomy 7:9, “Know then that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God, Who keeps His covenant promises and shows mercy to those who love and obey Him to a thousand generations.”
Zephaniah 3:17, “The Lord your God is in your midst. He is mighty to save. He will rejoice over you and quiet you in His love. He will rejoice over you with singing.”
In John 3:16-17, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved,” King James Version (KJV.)
In John 14:21, Jesus said, “Those who have and keep My commandments are the ones who love Me. And those who love Me shall be loved by My Father, and I will love them and reveal Myself to them.”
In John 15:9, Jesus said, “As the Father has loved Me, I have loved you. Continue in My love.”
1 John 4:8, “God is love.”
God character, God’s love is not capricious nor based on mood swings! God’s love is pure, faithful steadfast, trustworthy, strong, redeeming, and persistent.
Romans 8:35, 37-39 make this clear: “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Heavenly Father, we believe Your word, and we trust You to bring good out of our trials and struggles. Help us to draw closer to You and rest in the blessing of Your shatterproof love. In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen.
